Create the Life You Want to Live

Motivation time.

Ask yourself this… “What sort of life do I want to create for myself?”

I mean, seriously. Have you sat down and really thought about this, in detail?

What does the next 10-20 years look like in your head when you imagine it?  Have you not watched that movie yet?

  1. Do you want to wake up every day and have to drive an hour in traffic to a job you hate, so you have to wait for the weekend to come to finally get some time to do the things you actually like?
  2. Do you want to work two part-time jobs 60 hours a week just to be able to afford things for your kids only to spend 20 minutes with them before they go to sleep every night?

Or…

  1. Do you want to have the freedom to wake up whenever you want, and do whatever you want, without having to worry about how you’re going to pay the bills?

I know it sounds cheesy… But you literally create the life you live. Regardless of the excuses you can make as to why things aren’t the way you want them. If YOU don’t create a path for yourself, society will… And you probably won’t like it.

What does your perfect life look like? What actionable steps can you take to create that for yourself? Surely, nobody is going to come along one day and hand it to you. YOU must take steps towards YOUR future. Every day.

It won’t be easy. There’s not a single secret, shortcut, or seminar that will make you rich overnight. Expect to work hard. Except to make sacrifices. Except to fail, many, many times. Expect to go a while without seeing the results you want. Keep going… If you give up, you’ll be no different from the other 99% of people.

The formula for success is preparation + opportunity. You can prepare yourself through education, experiences and networking. You can work hard to create opportunities for yourself. Do not wait for the perfect opportunity to come to you… It won’t happen.

I say all this to say, please take some time every so often to reflect on your past and plan for your future. Because if not, years will pass and you’ll wish you made better choices when you had the chance.
